Angola is situated on the south west coast of Africa. It is bordered by Congo (Zaire) to the north and north east, Zambia to the east and Namibia to the south.
Carved in one piece out of wood. This doll is a woman of the Chokwe Tribe which is the largest ethnic group in eastern Angola. (They are also in Zambia and Congo). Her skirt is animal skin with fur trim and tassles round the back. Her trousers and top are knitted with a type of string.
