Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa which is bordered by Namibia to the west and north, Zimbabwe to the east, and South Africa to the south. The original inhabitants of present-day Botswana were nomads called the San (Bushmen), of whom few remain. Eastern parts were mainly settled by Bantu people called the Tswana. Hand made Tribal cloth doll with leather outfit. The body has been covered with orange and cream coloured fabric. The lower part of her legs have been covered with braid. She has been made completely out of proportion with her arms being very short and her legs being very long, but she is an interesting doll for that reason. She has no facial features. She has an interesting hat with three points facing to the front. Her leather outfit is heavily beaded. 25" high. Botswana, South Africa C.1960. Makers marks: None, but a similar doll is featured in the doll book:"African and Asian Costumed Dolls" by Polly and Pam Judd.
