I have made all the dolls in my dioramas with cloth bodies over pipeleaners with clay heads, hands and feet, and painted features, and I have dressed them myself. Most of the fabrics used are re-cycled as I find new fabric can be too stiff on a small doll. I have called this doll Mohammed Atwa. His book is just a small block of wood which I covered with thin leather.
I have used 9mm. plywood for the surround. The "tiled" floor paper was a free gift with a dolls house magazine, and the mesh in the doors is from an old radio. The artificial green plant on the right was cut down from a very large one and the brass pot in which it is "planted" is from a jumble sale. I bought the orange and white pot in Egypt, which inspired me to make this little scene.
The doll is 5.5" high. I made it in 2002.
