Madagascar is a large island off the south east coast of Africa in the Indian ocean. It became a French protectorate in 1883. Madagascar has strong cultural links with French speaking West Africa, although its' main language is not French but Malagasy. French is the second language. The three dolls have cloth bodies, painted features and black wool hair.
10", 9.5" and 6" high. Madagascar. 2011.
Makers marks: None. They were hand made in Tamatave on the east coast of Madagascar. The previous owner bought the dolls there.
