Malawi is situated in south west Africa and is bordered byTanzania to the northeast, Mozambique to the east and southwest, and Zambia to the west. It became independent in 1964. I am not 100% certain if this doll is from Malawi. I am basing it on the slightly taller and more swirly headress. He is made of hard plastic with moveable arms and legs, and painted features. His skirt is animal hair and it matches his headress. 5.5" high. Malawi (?) South East Africa C.1975. Makers marks: "P.M.I." and "J.H.B." impressed vertically down the back of doll.
