Two doll/figures of the Ibibio Tribe, which are found mostly in the Akwa Ibom State in southeastern Nigeria. The main staple is palm leaves, from which they sell the olis. These figures are carved in one piece out of light-weight wood and have painted patterns in red and black. Similar dolls to these are featured in the book: "Isn't S/he a doll? - Play and Ritual in African Sculpture" by Elizabeth L. Cameron, page 18. 11" and 12" high. Nigeria. C.2000. Makers marks: None.
